New SUV, Lexus RX 350 in India - Specifications, Features and Prices

Lexus RX 350 - Reviews, Wallpapers and Details

Lexus RX 350
World famous brand, Lexus are going to introduce into the ever growing Indian automobile market, their most prestigious SUV model, Lexus RX 350. This new model Lexus RX 350, that belongs to the D+ segment will have to face a tough competition from the other world class models that are already existing there.

This new Lexus RX 350 features a 24-valve, four-cam, 3500cc V6 Diesel engine which will produce a Maximum Power of 270hp@6200rpm and also a Maximum torque of 251ft-lbs@4700rpm. This new SUV will provide a mileage of around 17 in the cities and around 22 in the highway. The efficiency of the RX engine is improved with dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i).

Some of the other notable features of this new five-speed automatic Electronically Controlled Transmission (ECT) SUV is that a Dynamic Laser Cruise Control in the car uses laser technology to help monitor and maintain a pre-set following distance between your vehicle and the one traveling just ahead. To help others see your vehicle during daylight hours, it comes equipped with automatic daytime running lights.

For greater visibility during precipitation, the driver and front-seat passenger have the advantage of windows made from water-repellent front-door glass. Rain-Sensing Wipers are a distinctive feature of the car. When this available feature's sensor detects the presence of rain on the windshield, the wiper blades are activated at the appropriate speed. A backup camera helps the driver's rear view visibility when traveling in reverse.

To help avoid accidents before they happen, the available Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) pivots the headlamps during turns to illuminate more of the road. For easier loading and unloading, the power rear door can be raised or lowered with the touch of a button. At speeds over 62 mph, the vehicle automatically lowers 0.3 inches, for increased control and superior aerodynamics. For even better handling during sport driving, you can select Low mode, which lowers the vehicle 0.6 inches.

Other features include a rear-seat entertainment system which includes a nine-inch LCD screen and wireless headphones, bluetooth technology, satellite radio, power moon roof etc. The luxurious features of the interior include dual-zone climate control as well as a wood- and leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob. Eight speakers and an in-dash, six-disc CD auto-changer are included with this standard audio system.

Price of this new SUV, Lexus RX 350 is expected to be around Rs 38 lakhs.

2011 Lexus CT200h Hybrid - First Drive Review

In Europe, where the price of gasoline roughly mirrors that of champagne, compact luxury cars are one of the biggest segments of the market. In the U.S., however, the Audi A3, the BMW 1-series, and the Volvo C30 will be lucky to break 23,000 combined sales in 2010. Lexus’s goal in the U.S. is to move 1000 CT200h’s a month, thereby increasing sales in the compact luxury segment by more than half.

The CT200h is based on the MC platform, which also underpins the Lexus HS250h hybrid, the Scion tC, and the Toyota Corolla. Like the HS, this car has a trailing-arm multilink rear suspension—instead of the torsion beam used by the Corolla—to better package the nickel-metal hydride battery pack and allow a lower load floor. Struts are used upfront. Lexus uses so-called performance dampers—braces that have a damper within them—between the front strut towers and spanning the trailing edges of the body to stiffen the structure and reduce vibration.

The CT has a version of the Prius powertrain underhood that mates a 1.8-liter four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine that produces 98 hp with an 80-hp electric motor for a combined output of 134. The only transmission available is a CVT; it directs the push to the front wheels. This lowly amount of power has to haul roughly 3200 pounds, so this vehicle is slow. Figure on the amble to 60 mph taking 10 seconds flat, or a tick and a half slower than we recorded in an A3 TDI. The trade-off is excellent mileage, with EPA ratings of 42 mpg city/41 highway compared with the Audi’s 30/42 figures.

Safety in Number (of Airbags)

The car’s interior is nicely appointed, although we don’t care for the standard NuLuxe faux-leather upholstery. And—as is the norm in this size class—rear-seat space is tight for six-footers. But the controls are cleanly laid out, and amenities such as dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Bluetooth phone and audio, and pushbutton start are standard. There are eight standard airbags, including knee bags for the driver and front passenger.

Radar cruise control with a pre-collision system is among the options, along with a power sunroof, LED headlights, heated front seats, and a backup camera that sends images to a monitor in the rearview mirror. There are four options packages: a premium audio system bundled with the sunroof and a garage-door opener; the same grouping plus the backup camera or a navigation system; and a leather-seating package that incorporates driver-seat memory and rain-sensing wipers.

Low Expectations Fulfilled

Like the Prius, the CT200h has an electric-only operating mode, EV, but it is pure gimmick. EV operation is theoretically possible for up to one mile at speeds up to 28 mph, but anything more than the lightest pedal pressure refires the gas engine. In the real world, the CT200h offers three driving modes: Eco has a very lazy throttle map, normal is slightly less lethargic, and sport is, well, still sluggish. The steering effort is higher in sport mode, which is good, because it’s light and inert in the other settings. We think the CT has a nicely balanced chassis, although it is difficult to tell because the stability control kills the fun before any mirth has a chance to materialize, and there’s little power with which to modulate the car’s cornering attitude.

The CT’s strengths are those associated with Lexuses and hybrids in general: a well-controlled ride, a quiet powertrain (provided you’re not caning it), muted wind and road noise, and excellent gas mileage. Plus, the CT200h is very nicely screwed together. However, when the CT goes on sale in February, its base price is likely to be around $31,500, higher than those of its three main rivals. Given the Lexus’s sloth and dull personality, we’d take one of the European cars—or even the much cheaper, mechanically similar, and more efficient Prius—instead.

Tuner Cars: Lexus IS by Wald

Usually when tuning company’s tune cars like the 3-Series, they go out of their way to give it more power. Sometimes they even add so much power, that it would almost sit the car next to the M3. Unfortunately, that’s not the case here. Wald International, headquartered in Osaka Japan, recently got their hands on the Lexus IS and ended up just giving it some good looks.

Wald’s IS250/350 Executive Line consists of a new front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper and rear spoiler plus Wald’s 19-inch Portofino silver polished wheels.

So no Lexus IS-F power here, but good looks nonetheless.

Lexus GS 350, 2009

Lexus GS 350, 2009

The Lexus GS luxury sport sedan model line includes the V6-powered Lexus GS 350 and the GS 350 all-wheel drive (AWD), the V8-powered Lexus GS 460, and the only gasoline electric hybrid model in the segment, the Lexus GS 450h.

Optimized for low internal friction, the Lexus GS 350's 3.5-liter V6 engine produces 303 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 274 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 3,600 rpm. A direct fuel-injection system provides much finer fuel-mixture control to improve both power and fuel efficiency. Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) acts on both intake and exhaust valves to further enhance performance through a wide rpm range. A smooth-shifting six-speed transmission allows manual shifting when desired.

Safety/Security Features
The Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS), standard on the GS 460 and optional for the Lexus GS 350, helps illuminate a curve as the driver steers into it. A Tire Pressure Monitoring system can detect a critical loss in pressure in one or more tires and alert the driver. The available Intuitive Park Assist (IPA) system uses ultrasonic sensors to detect objects close to the car's front and rear bumpers and alerts the driver accordingly. A steering-input sensor helps to better judge changes in distance to objects.

Luxury/Comfort/Convenience
The standard Regency leather-trimmed, heated, 10-way power front seats (perforated leather trim on GS 460) are comfortably contoured for support on long trips. Ventilated front seats are standard for the Lexus GS 460 and available for the Lexus GS 350. A power-tilt and telescopic steering wheel helps ensure a comfortable driving position. The standard dual-zone climate-control system filters the air, and a standard rear power sunshade adds to passenger comfort on warm days.

Exterior Design
The current generation GS sedans introduced the brand's L-finesse design language. A 112.2-inch wheelbase, long hood, pulled-back cabin and short rear deck create a confident, powerful stance for the GS. A sloped, vertical grille surrounded by four independent headlamps visually connects the current GS sedans with the previous-generation models while signaling the brand's design progression. The lower valance features integrated fog lamps, and a low 0.27 coefficient of drag (Cd) helps to minimize wind noise and maximize highway fuel efficiency.

Interior Design
Ultra-premium wood, polished-metal accents and leather trim endow the Lexus GS interior with a lavish yet high-precision feel. Touch points convey quality and controls that respond fluidly. The customer can choose from among three interior leather color combinations: Light Gray leather with Dark Gray Bird's-eye maple wood trim, Cashmere leather with Golden Bird's-eye Maple wood trim, or Black leather with Red Walnut wood trim. Each combination includes a matching wood and leather-trim steering wheel and shift knob.

Lexus designers strive to keep controls simple and intuitive, avoiding needless complexity. The SmartAccess keyless entry and push-to-start ignition allow the driver to keep the access fob in a pocket or purse. Audio and climate-control systems are easy to understand and operate. The unique instrument panel lighting system relies on variable-transparency glass to minimize reflections from the gauge faces and to help optimize visibility in all lighting conditions.

2010 Lexus Sports Cars LFA N2410 at Nürburgring 24h race

Lexus and Gazoo Racing compete together at Nürburgring 24h race for the beneft of LFA and other future Toyota & Lexus products. Playing a key role in helping to finalise the development of the LFA before it enters production in December, the grueling 24h race offers Lexus and Gazoo Racing the unique opportunity to not only foster the peerless quality, durability and reliability by pushing cutting-edge technology to the extremes of mechanical endurance but also to hone the technical skills of the personnel involved in the development of future Lexus and Toyota production vehicles.
2010 Lexus Sports Cars LFA N2410
Furthermore, by participating in the 24 Hours Endurance Race Lexus and Toyota aim to showcase their dedication through Gazoo Racing to produce more emotional cars and becoming more attractive and desirable to a wider range of customers.
This year’s race marks the third consecutive entry of the Lexus LFA and, signifcantly, the frst participation of the car in standard production guise.
Competing in the SP8 (‘Near production’) class, the race version of the LFA does not differ substantially from the road car, particularly with regard to construction, engine and transmission. Mandatory safety equipment has been installed and other modifcations such as a refned aero package including a fxed rear wing and a larger fuel tank are made to refect the format of the 24h race and the Nürburgring circuit.
Led by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC)’s master test driver Hiromu Naruse, the Gazoo Racing team will make its fourth appearance at the Nürburging 24h race. It is a team comprised of engineers and technicians from TMC, and, whilst they’ve regularly come together over recent months to support the LFA in the build-up to the 24h race, their ‘day-jobs’ are within the TMC engineering community. This kind of virtual organisation ensures that the collective learning is transmitted directly back into the core of the engineering activity.
The driver line-up includes four Japanese and three German pilots with outstanding endurance and GT racing credentials, including three champions from the Japanese Super GT series. As part of the preparation of the cars and the drivers, Gazoo Racing entered the first three VLN races of 2010.
Consistently fnishing in leading positions in its SP8 class, the LFA has also demonstrated its competitiveness against track-prepared specialist racing cars, with a best fnish of 17th overall in VLN2.
